The Aftermath of a Championship

This week’s edition Shiny Things is a but more New York specific than normal, so apologies in advance for any out-of-towners who aren’t into that sort of thing… but this particular newsletter was 53 years in the making.

Last week, the New York Knicks brought the NBA Championship back to New York after five decades of absolute torment, and on Thursday they marched through the Canyon of Heroes for a celebration that many fans thought would never happen in their lifetime. For a few hours, lower Manhattan looked much like it has during the city's greatest moments of celebration with ENORMOUS crowds packed shoulder-to-shoulder, and the city’s team moving slowly through streets lined with history. If you we’re on social media at any point in the last few days, you likely saw a reminder that some of the most iconic sports photographs aren't taken during the games, but afterward in moments like this when victory spills into the streets.

This week, we're putting together the most iconic photos to come from this past week’s championship parade - what may go down as one of the biggest ever held, complete with the images that may become lasting pieces of history.
