Open-Source History

We talk a lot about collectibles here, but rarely about what actually makes something collectable.
This is the question that inevitably comes up whenever Rally is presented to a new audience. And for some items, it’s not always easy to answer.
It can be categorized by some of the obvious attributes like rarity and scarcity of a certain item relative to others. It can be the process by which it was created — by nature or by man, by machine or by hand, or even spawned from algorithms and modern computing power.
Or it can be a feeling… the overwhelming sensation that triggers a moment of nostalgia or unlocks a memory that the collective consciousness holds close. When you get a chance to literally hold that moment and relive the feeling over and over, you typically have something special (and often, that something is now more valuable than it was when that moment first sparked your imagination).
But there is one attribute of a “collectible” that stands out over everything else:
History.
Not just the history that lives in the past. It’s the history that an object or an item continues to make in the present, and the history that will continue to be written long into the future. It’s the type of relevance that embeds itself into the social, economic, and emotional construct of every day life. It’s what makes an item news -worthy and instantly conversational.
At Rally, we’ve always classified it by asking “will this one make it into the group chat?”
In the world of collectibles, few artifacts carry the weight of history like our newest IPO, debuting on Rally this coming Friday February 2nd, and it will definitely get a reaction in the your group chat:
A first printing of the U.S. Constitution, one of the rarest and most significant documents in American history.

Only 30 copies are known to exist. Ten reside in private collections, while the rest are housed in institutions where they will likely remain forever. Of this particular version (a 1787 first printing), just three have been sold at auction in the 21st century. This is not merely a historical document — it’s the first recorded instance of our founding fathers codifying the laws that shaped a nation.
When it comes to democratizing access to iconic assets, The Constitution stands as a defining milestone for us at Rally and for the hundreds of thousands of users of this platform.
Two full centuries after it was first distributed, it essentially lives as the first piece of open-source software (it just happened to come off a printing press instead of a MacBook). In the words of our historical document advisor, Jeremy O'Connor of Collector’s Folio “it was the public who signed off on this as the co-author. And currently still is the co-author.”

In Jeremy’s words “we should be amazed that this is publicly available.”
With no question as to its status as a collectible in every sense of the word, and an airtight chain of ownership going back 230+ years, this is an object that has and will continue to stand the test of time.
It’s real History.
We’re thrilled to be able to present this document to live alongside it’s peer — both in terms of importance, scarcity, and now proximity — the Declaration of Independence broadside that we IPO’d in late 2021.
We’ve included the full prospectus below for all Rally members the browse and learn more, and if you have not reserved shares you can do so by clicking here.
We look forward to what will surely be a historic offering this coming week, and as always, our team is standing by the answer any questions. Simply reply to this email, or you can drop a us note directly at [email protected].
Until Next Week…
